Curriculum Vitae

Vasile Ene was born on July 9, 1957 in Ploiesti, Romania. 

  • He married in 1979 Gabriela Ene, who was a mathematics teacher at a primary school in Romania (1982-1998), and who lives now in Germany. They have no children.  

 

All academic degrees

  • He received the B.S. degree in Mathematics from the University of Bucharest, Romania, in 1982. The subject of examination was Real Analysis.  
  • He received the doctoral degree in Mathematics from the University of Bucharest, Romania, in 1993, with the thesis ,,Monotonicity Theorems for Real Functions of a Real variable".  

 

All the stages of the university education

  • From September 1978 to July 1982 he attended the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Bucharest, Romania, and he received the B.S. degree. The main subjects were: real analysis, the measure theory, functional analysis, algebra, geometry, differential equations. 
  • From February 1990 to May 1993 he obtained the doctoral degree in Mathematics, under the direction of Professor Solomon Marcus. The main subjects were: real analysis, the measure theory, the theory of integration, nonabsolutely convergent integrals.   

 

Complete professional background

  • From September 1982 to August 1991 he worked as a mathematics teacher at a high school (scoala generala) in the village 23 August in the district of Constanta, Romania.
  • From September 1991 - June 1992 he was enrolled at the Michigan State University, Department of Mathematics, as a Graduated Assistant. He benefited of a scholarship from the Michigan State University. His scientific mentor was Professor Clifford E. Weil.  
  • From October 1992 - September 1996 he had been employed as a lecturer at the "Ovidius" University of Constanta, Department of Mathematics, teaching a course in Functional Analysis and a course in Real Analysis.  
  • In October 1996 he has been employed as an Associate Professor at the "Ovidius" University of Constanta, Department of Mathematics. 
  • Since October 1998 he occupied the position of a professor at the same university, teaching a course in Functional Analysis, based on his book Functional Analysis and a special course in Real Functions, based on his book Real Functions - Current Topics and a course in Real Analysis. 
  • On December 4, 1997, he received the "Simion Stoilov'' Award of the Romanian Academy for his book: book Real Functions - Current Topics  (Lecture Notes in Mathematics, Springer Verlag, 1995).  

 

Vasile Ene died on November 11, 1998 in the District Hospital Constanta, Romania, after a stay of two days. 

He had the flu and, after some complications, he got encephalitis. All the treatment that followed couldn't help. 

On Saturday, November 14, 1998 Vasile was buried in the cemetery of  23 August, district Constanta, Romania.
